humbled on the hill

On the weekend I was heading up a nice little hill, in the fast lane, just minding my own business when I noticed this little F150 pulling a Kustom Koach in my sideview mirror. "He looks like he's got in mind to pass me" I thought, so I pushed the skinny pedal to the floor to show him what a diesel will do. ;) Well,,,,nothing happened, my truck just stayed right at 2000 rpm and 50 mph and that little F150 blew by me at about 70mph. Fortunately the speed limit was only 50 mph so he likely doesn't know the extent of my shame.

  • too bad you don't have a cummins with a 28K combo weight, could have went 55.

probably would have pulled better than new too.
  • Back when I used to tow with my 73 Blazer I could humble most anyone going uphill. It has a hell of a motor, but otherwise stinks as a TV.
Going up steep grades was the only place it would handle.
  • Shame on you. You brought shame on the Ford name. Fortunately, you were not passed by a GM/Chev 1500. Or (gasp) a RAM. So that F150 restored the shame you brought on the family.

If that ever happens with a GM/Chev/Ram, then make sure you pull it down a gear or two. If that doesn't pick up the speed, then take your truck in to get it fixed.

So what's wrong with your truck :H Or were you hauling that GN of hay weighing 30K lbs :W
  • Don't feel bad 4x4ord. We often find ourselves passing trucks on grades, even ones not towing anything! The magic or aerodynamics.

  • Yeah but it stayed at 2000rpm. Isn't that the goal? God forbid it might downshift, multiply some torque and whip his little ace!:B
