On the other hand, if it happened just like you said, why didn't you just stay in the right lane and go up the hill a little slower and a little more comfortably?
Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, having never driven a Ford V-10...going up a hill in the burb never produces that kind of noise and/or stress.
Pulling a 13,000 pound trailer up an 11% grade, and if you let the V10 off the torque curve in third gear. You are going down to second or even first gear. And maybe down to 25 or 30 MPH. And if you start by building up momentum, so that you can keep your speed up to legal limits, and you are in the left lane passing a line of several slower moving heavy haulers in the right line. So if your are in the left lane and losing speed rapidly, you become a very dangerous road block to those others that are trying to keep their speed up in the left hand lane behind you.
It really has nothing to do with a gasser, A V-10, a Diesel. It's more about experience. And knowing your limits. And being considerate of others on the road. A big difference between towing a 13,000 pound high profile 5'r or an 8,000 pound low profile TT. So you might not be aware.
