It looks like we are parking our HTT as a seasonal this year. I know, a hybrid doesn't seem real ideal for this particular application, but there are a lot of factors that led to this decision for us. This isn't so much a "should I seasonal camp with a hybrid" question - but looking for advice from anybody else who has done it. I'm thinking that folding up the beds when we are gone will be important. I'm wondering about PUGs just to protect them since they will probably be open quite a bit more this summer since it is out at the campground all summer.Any other tips or ideas on how to seasonal camp in an HTT?

all i can say is that i don't see very many who use a hybrid on a seasonal site.IMHO, they aren't a good choice for this, especially if the tent ends are left open when you leave the campground.

I'd think for seasonal use a HTT is the same as a TT but with tenting, so I'd only be extra concerned with such. Covering as much of it as you can with Gizmo's or some such and closing it up when you leave sounds like all you can do. After it rains, do remove the Gizmo's and see if it gets wet underneath as mine does, you'll need to let it dry. Keep an eye out for mildew.

Put on the PUG,s and leave em open, As long as weather and safety are not a concern. Take the PUG,s off once a month to clean the canvas. Have fun. Folding the tent ends up is a great option, but there is always going to be that rainy day when you cant fold em up dry. I have seen it done, but the canvas looked rough and obviously not maintaned. no worries, I know it's not the conventional approach. But then, there's not much about our family that is conventional, so we're ok with that. The biggest thing it protecting the investment in the camper. I'm not overly concerned about security where it will be parked, but I don't want the canvas to get ruined. I don't have PUGs, but might need to invest in them this year. One of my biggest concerns is keeping the inside floor clear so if we show up for the day to go swimming or whatever, I don't have to dig a bunch of stuff out of it.

I see a lot of seasonals that leave their awnings open, just lowered and tied down. Anybody try that? I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that idea, but it would help when it comes to having a place outside the camper to leave stuff.

I would use a hybrid as a seasonal if I needed to. But I would never leave the beds out while I'm gone for more than a couple days.

Besides the fact that I can open or close them in minutes by myself, there are other issues.

First, I don't think the canvas would last as long deployed for months at a time even with PUGs.

Second, if there's a tree anywhere around it, the odds are greater for a something to fall on it in storms. It can happen while camping, but open all summer increases the odds.

Third is security. I realize the cheapo door locks won't stop anyone, but the canvas could be more inviting to theft or damage.

Lastly, animals are more likely to damage the canvas when nobody is there for lengths of time

I do agree with RandK-M.......and as for the awning, for the time it takes to roll it out, I would roll it in when I'm gone for more than a day.

The PUG is a no brainer, even if you are camping on weekends only. A solar blanket from Cabellas does the job equally well for a lot less money.

Regarding leaving the bunkends open or closed, I'd closed them as a rule and if it's raining one weekend at the time you want to leave, then leave them open for that week. The location is a factor, if you feel the trailer is safe where it is, there is not much to worry about, but you know it's easier to enter through a canvas. Kids with nothing to do might want to get in and look through your stuff. Not a pleasant thought.
