I almost cheated on my truck yesterday.

A used car lot I go by most every day has the prettiest little electric blue 2004 GMC 2500 short bed crew cab 4wd Duramax 1 owner spotless truck I've ever seen.
I turned around to check it out. Guy wasn't open yet so I didn't have to play that game. Then I thought about my faithful white frumpy quad cab Cummins with the droopy front end, the 2WD, the long bed, and I realized the short bed would need a slider killing that area and my toolbox wouldn't fit ahead of the hitch. I also realized the Cummins has never left me and has faithfully pulled a 5er many thousands of miles over hill and dale.
Oh well, I went home and washed and vacuumed the Ram and asked her if she'd forgive me. Like Jimmy Carter once said I have committed adultery in my heart.

Once in a while me n Widdis agree...this is one o those times!!
Maybe if the Ram is a 6speed, but towing, driving, transmission, comfort, all of the above, a LB7 basically stomps a mudhole in an early 3rd gen auto Cummins Rams arse.
Only better part about that truck is the Cummins, comparatively. And not by a landslide.

I really like my 07 Ram, but I would not have ever bought it if it was a quad cab auto trans truck. Never woulda even looked at it.

Our old LB7 with just a canned tune would tear up stock 90s and 2000s mustang GTs from atop light to stop light. Had a young laborer kid with a GT with a bunch of bolt on parts. No blower or internal mods.
I owned his car for about 5 minutes before I told him I wasn't going to take his car.
We raced for pinks on a short 1/8th (so I didn't have to hit 5th gear under full power, lol). He lost.

  • IMHO, you're better off with the Cummins anyway. Nice to see you gave her some lovin' when you got home!
