A screwdriver or a crowbar is a master key on 99% of the RVs out there. I would replace the CH751 locks not because of better security, but because the cheap key (stamped pot metal in some cases) tends to break. I've found some "automotive grade" cam locks which use the same key on sale from Amazon, which have a thicker, double-sided key and the lock has a spring loaded shutter that keeps dirt out. I have considered going with Abloy locks because of their legendary reliability in any weather, but at $50+ a piece, combined with the fact that the lock is easily bypassed because of the rather flimsy door it is attached to, it isn't high on my priority list.
As for a truck camper, Tuffy Security Products and Console Vault have good, unobtrusive ways to stash valuables inside the pickup truck, in a container that is resistant to the long screwdriver or crowbar. That way, when my TC is in storage, I can leave the compartments latched but unlocked (with a sign saying so.)
I have thought of just replacing all cam locks with thumbturns, but I'm concerned with vibration on the road working them loose, although others on rv.net have never found that to happen. However, I do like having cam locks, just as a way of keeping honest people honest and the curious kids out. Some
cam locks don't even have a key per se, but more of a socket that uses an oddball bit. This looks interesting, but I prefer a "positive" lock of a key lock.
