If you contact through Craigs List, the seller doesn't get your email. As somebody already said, if they will let you come see it and have a legitimate title in hand to turn over you are probably fine. I sure wouldn't give them a dime until I inspected it. But another one in St. Louis for $4500? That's a bargain! And same house...
