I think I would be sick to my stomach if I had a $5k pled repair bill on a truck that only had 110k on it. One of the reasons why I went the route I did after having multiple friends and family get stuck with a large repair bill due to the CP4 pump. Just as IdaD stated, Cummins still uses the CP3 pump and would not ruin the whole engine and fuel system if it fails.
Obviously the CP3 has a reputation for being a more reliable pump, but do you know what it is about the design of the CP4 versus the CP3 that makes it so the former grenades the entire fuel system while the latter just requires swapping in a new injection pump? I've read that in a bunch of places so I'm sure it's true, but I'm curious as to why that's the case.
I wouldn't necessarily say that the CP3 injection pump the main reason I bought a Ram, but it was one of the bigger factors I considered while evaluation my options.
