Are the GVWR and Payload figures here off the tire loading and capacity stickers on the drivers door of your truck or are these the numbers off the RAM web site? The 1340 sounds high to me for the ED with 4x4 and what I'm assuming is at least a Quad-cab configuration as you indicate 4 adults.
If they are not from the stickers on your truck it would be helpful to know what your stickers say. Look for the phrase "Combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed" and post the weight listed there - that is the payload for your truck as it was delivered from the factory. Anything you or the dealer added to the truck such as the shell has to be subtracted from this as well.
The other sticker should be titled "MFD BY CHRYSLER GROUP" - post the GVWR and GAWR FRONT/REAR figures from this sticker as well. This will help folks understand your specific situation and provide better feedback.
