For me I think the 26-foot size would probably be my limits... Since we really like to get back off the trails and do alot of NATL FOREST roads etc the 26-foot is probably about as big as one would go and still be able to egress those areas.
You certainly see alot of the 29-34 foot trailers on the roads... The rear living room with the large picture windows overlooking the lake where you are camping at sure carries alot of weight on your choice haha...
I am at the bottom of expenses with my 12-foot POPUP box trailer. Gets great gas mileage, very minimum upkeep expenses, low cost insurance-state taxes, etc, most easy to maneuver almost anywhere we go to. Driving 450 miles on one tank of gas in my F150 truck doesn't hurt at all... That gets me from King George VA to the ELKMONT Camp in the Smoky mtns in TN in one 8HR swoop. I don't even know the trailer is behind me...
Our OFF-ROAD Trailer has all the modern appliances and suits the two of us just great. We probably justify the less move around space inside the trailer by saying it makes us do more living outside of the trailer.
All about choices I reckon...
