I think as a "general guideline" the RV industry states length as overall...tip of tongue to back of trailer. Like my 189FDS funfinder is 18' 9" total overall, so the "box" itself is about 16' or a bit under that.
That's for bumper pulls, not sure how they do it in the fifth wheel world. In gooseneck horse trailers the general rule is the stated length is the part of the trailer where the floor is flat. So a 25' gooseneck horse hauler would typically be about 35' overall.
Not a lot of consistency in this whole trailer industry deal.

So you went from a 2351DKS to a 22G? That's a foot shorter! Maybe 2 at most. Well ok, if it makes you feel better!

Thanks for everyones help. went out and traded the Minny Winnie and got a Northwoods RV (on order) It's smaller and more suited to our style of camping I think.

Is yours one of the red models? Was at the dealer the other day and they had a couple Winnie's and the sales people did not like them. Lots of little things that came across cheap. Good luck with whatever you do.

We've moved from a pop-up to a 27' non-slide bunkhouse to a 30' dual slide unit. We do travel with our trailer, but we also seasonal camp and it's really nice to basically have a "mobile cottage", especially when the weather's not so nice. It is tougher to tow and to park but IMO it's well worth it.

I also like the size and in fact would consider that size and floorplan if we ever downsize from out 33' 5er. Towable with our Yukon and easier to get in tight spots. We use ours all winter so the trade off with less size is being coupled up on a rainy day(s) on the wet side of Oregon where we live.

We have the LivinLite Camplite 21BHS. It has been a terrific trailer for us. Very well built, no wood, aluminum roof and floor. The dry weight is 3500 pounds and GVWR is 5000. We tow it with a Ram 1500 and it tows great. It is the perfect size for my wife and I with the queen bed for us and bunk beds if our daughter and son in law come. The 21RBS is another model without the bunks. They also have smaller models as well.

I'm in the small trailer category. Lots of back roads, high elevations, twisting one lane, blind corner, cliff on one side, dirt road, boondocks and back country national forest campground - kind of pulling. But for all that the tightest area and requires the short trailer are the actual national forest campgrounds, with skinny curving roads with wood curbs on both sides, boulders and trees right next to the roads, and short driveways. 21' foot trailer was doable in the campground, barely, but the 8' width was scary on the one lane forest service roads next to the cliff while going around corners. I ended up with and am very comfortable with a 17' 7.5' wide trailer. Just the two of us, with a slide, and full queen. The problems are crawling over each other in and out of bed; not much room to toss things and leave them for a few days.

Of course I tow with a 3/4 ton crew cab long bed, whose overall length is longer than the overall length of the trailer. Sometimes I put our Polaris RZR in the bed of the truck.

As to the livin lite, they have some unique features. From what I have researched on them, they are not all that much lighter than the competition. You really need to see one in person, as they are unlike anything else out there. You will either like the inside or you won't. Does not seem to be much middle ground on that. They are also somewhat more expensive to buy than many other brands.
I thought I would like them. I thought I would like Airstream too, but I was wrong about both. Neither appealed to me once I got inside.
