I think this forum is dangerous

I spent the first fours years of trailer ownership riding along the highways at whatever speeds I felt safe with combined with a set of factory China bombs on my trailer. Just bought a set of 10 ply Maxxis tires aired up to spec and just had a blow out on I37 doing 62 mph. Should have just ran not China bombs one more year and I would already be at my destination. I guess none of the brands are any better than the others and you never know when disaster is coming.

  • This is what I know, concerning the Maxxis I have on my trailer. Put them on summer of 2013. I now have over 16K miles on them, including a cross country trip of over 7,900 miles. They still look new on the tread, and I haven't seen any cracks in the sidewall yet. (I will knock on wood now.) If they keep wearing like they have so far, I will probably not have to change them out until sometime in 2017.

I don't baby them, but neither do I abuse them by pulling several hundred miles over 65 mph at a time.

  • Did you have 80psi in the Maxxis? I had good luck with E rated Maxxis on a prior trailer at 80psi. Almost 7 years and 15,000 miles.
  • However the rest of the story is that the vast amount of problems have been with the China Bombs. As you give no information I guess we can assume that you were just going down the road at 62 mph and the tire just Blew up. Did not run over anything or in any other way have a problem the Maxxis tires just simply Blew up and had you left the China Bombs on nothing would have happened.
I also replaced my China Bombs with 10 ply Maxxims and I went 400 Miles round trip and nothing at all happened. But this site is dangerous with much mis information so now that Phone Man has had an undocumented problem we should all disregard the information about Maxxims. I am taking this post right down to my tireman and see if I can't get my China Bombs back. Talk about a Silly post.
