I have what is probably one of the more common Scare lights.It is 7" in diameter, and has these numbers on the lens: DOT I6S2T2 92. It came with a 1295, 35W bulb.The lens has yellowed reducing the brightness, and the bulb just burnt out. Upon removing the lens, the material that it had for a gasket, some sort of white foam disintegrated.SO since this thing needs some bucks just to get it back to stock. I figure now is a good time to upgrade. The local RV outlet showed me a replacement Fixture that has LEDs... I like the idea, but wasn't overly impressed with the number of LEDs that it had. I didn't count them, but would guess it as about 15 or so... And the package was touting the low amp draw... That is not really a concern as this light is normally used when the generator is running.I am considering getting some more of the panel LEDS and wiring them into the old fixture I could likely get at least 4 of them in there.I still have the issue of the gasket and the yellowed lens though, I need to upgrade those as well.I am looking for ideas on what others have done, and what they liked/didn't like about it.TIA

I don't have a bright exterior light. The lamp is a single 36-3528 LED panel. It works fine for me now and I have plans to put some floods around, later this year.Your fixture sounds like it's seen it's days unless you can find a replacement lens. The gasket could be replaced by weatherstripping. If you're thinking of upgrading to LEDS, I would just get a new fixture. Some of the newer LED's can be very bright so count doesn't play that big a part, anymore.

The number of LED's makes no difference in its output since you have no idea what the output of each is.. You need to look at it , but also remember that everything makes heat, including LED's. While a brighter incandescent will burn out the fixture, LED's will just kill themselves. So choose wisely.

Geeeeze... WHY is it the light police just can't let this go?
Huntindog- take a look inside from time to time and make sure you're not overheating anything with your LED stuffed fixture. LED's do make heat and that's a really sealed and small enclosure.

Yes that is correct. 4 of the 48 LED panels, and one 120 LED bulb for the socket.

I can't post pics now, but it really wasn't hard, there could be room for 5 panels if you want to go to the work of relocating the socket.. There is a lot of room in there. It's not needed though.

Not two legged critters, four legged ones. The area we camp in has bear, cougar, bobcat and coyotes. I haven't seen the cats in camp but have found their tracks close enough. The bears are looking for trash but the coyotes want the dogs. They were yipping all around us one night and the dogs wouldn't go out to go piddle. As soon as the lights went on the yipping stopped.

as I said some camp where things go bump in the night. We only turn on the lights when we walk the dogs or hear something. Otherwise I like seeing the milky-way.

Well it's time to update this thread.
I first tried these.

120 LED plug in

They were really easy to install. Plug and play.
Real bright, but didn't diffuse as wide as the original bulbs.

So I then added 4 of these 48 SMD LED panels.

Final solution

All I can say is WOW!! I was so impressed that I ordered another round scare light, and did the same mod to it. I installed it in place of the standard porch light. So I now have 2 of the new scare lights on the door/awning side, and one on the opposite side. With the aircraft landing lights the TT came with on the front cap, setting up at night is a breeze.

And the amp draw is about half of what the original bulbs drew.

Definatly worth the money if you are wanting good lighting.
