- Bionic_ManExplorerGoing a little off subject, but since IB brought it up, I think it is ok.
I have been reading about some of those adaptive cruise controls. With the crash mitigation and lane departure systems, there are many vehicles out today that are for all intents and purposes, self driving. The technological advancements that are happening are just astonishing. - DadoffourgirlsExplorerYes, I was run off the road by one of these in May. They were out doing there testing, and the driver merged on to freeway and into the left lane where I was. The following Cherokee saw it all happen.
So, they either have big blind spots, no blind spot monitors, or the test driver was not paying attention.
Now they are running the ProMaster van for testing. - wilber1Explorer

We ordered the pentastar v6 (3.2L), and the only transmission available is the 9 speed auto. On our test drives, the v6 actually got better mpg than the 4 cyl. The 4 banger never got into 8th or 9th, but stayed in 7th as the top gear at 70mph at 2100 rpm. The v6 got into 8th and dropped to 1600 rpm. 6, 7, 8, and 9th are all overdrive ratios, 9th is 0.48:1 :E
Tow rating is 4500# :P
That's interesting. Four OD ratios? 6th is 1:1 in the 8 speed. - RedRocket204ExplorerI will be very interested in any review you have of that Trailhawk once you receive it!
So glad Chrysler decided to develop a new Cherokee and I like the Trailhawk styling. Reading up on it...sounds like the potential for a great off-road and on-road all weather rig. - ib516Explorer IIWe ordered every single option except the stand alone cd player.
Adaptive cruise control, self park gimmick, etc.
Some really neat technology items in this vehicle. It can actually bring itself to a complete stop if using the adaptive cruise and the vehicle in front brakes suddenly. The computer applies the brakes ever so slightly intermittently when in wet conditions to keep the rotors dry. We got the trailhawk package which includes an e-locker and increased ground clearance, etc. - ib516Explorer IIWe ordered the pentastar v6 (3.2L), and the only transmission available is the 9 speed auto. I had a 1990 black Cherokee Limited with every option and the full-time "Selec-Trac" 4x4 system and it was a GREAT little truck. Could go off-road like nobody's business and was dead-nuts reliable. - Me_AgainExplorer III
