- Buzzcut1Nomad III have had a paid Pro Photobucket account for years due to the volume of photos I shoot. As far as I can tell all my photos are still visible on all linked sites. I have AdBlocker Plus on my computer so I never see any of the Ad's on any site I visit
- JfetExplorerWrecked my flatbed camper build thread too.
Is Photobucket publicly traded? We could make a lot of money shorting it tomorrow!
This is beyond stupid. They will lose 99% of their base. - 67avionExplorer IIWhazoo, you are right in terms of trip reports but we had cobbled together the most informative site in the world dealing with rebuilding the Avion TC. We can't put it back together. Bear in mind that people spent countless hours on their rebuilds and unselfishly posted them for others to learn. This is beyond a tragedy for me.
- whazooExplorerI paid for a Photobucket account many years ago, when I first started do trip reports, I always worried this would happen. Having said that, I also feel that there can be no guarantee that a company/business will always be there for my paid subscription either. No matter how important it is to me. It is sad to become so dependant on these things, it's taught me to not care so much about the things, trip reports, that I've put so much work in. Trip today, gone tomorrow. At the same time I do have all my photos on disc and two hard drives as well as trip report text saved as rtf on my computer. Now all I worry about is ransomeware and EMPs lol.

Gone.
Sorry that happened -- your garage build thread (especially) was very informative and interesting.
If you still have all your pictures and text organized on your private computer, it wouldn't be too hard to upload the whole works to a new personal website.
Thanks, I may do that for the topics that are still open. Especially the garage build. It will be a lot of work though. I have all the pictures, in fact I never, ever dreamed of using Photobucket or any other hosting site as a primary place to store my pictures. Sounded like a good way to loose all your pictures to me, even with a paid plan.
I'm done with PB. They could reverse themselves tomorrow and I'd still be done with them. They've been bought and sold several times since I first started using them, and the site has become just awful to use due to their constant "improvements".
:):) - SidecarFlipExplorer IIIThis is the only forum I'm on that I cannot download directly from my computer to. Long Range Hunting, I can, Smith and Wesson Forums, I can, even a local forum I'm on, Monroe Talks, I can.
Only a matter of coding in the proper parameters as I assume that the platform used here is capable of that...I assume. - BedlamModeratorI have always advised to locally backup your data and photos that are stored on hosted servers. Between business decisions, hackers, ineptness and greed, you may lose access to your collection.

Very shady of PB to hold hostage our photo (links) which basically trashes every forum that used them. The way they did was very underhanded, no warning, no option to "freeze" your account to keep you existing links and pay a "reasonable" fee (not! $399.99) for future posted photos. They're obviously free to run their business anyway they want, even right into the ground. Good riddance PB!
- KCFDCaptExplorerMakes me think of ransomware when I see the price to open the folder.
