...and had a reasonable budget to do it with, what would you buy for towing a: A) 9000# TT B) 13000# 5er Assume weights are wet/loaded. . . . . Pick any brand/engine/gears you like. ...

A: 2500 GM with 6.0 and 4:10 gears. Brand is not really important any 250/2500 will do fine.
B: 3500 DRW, Duramax or Cummins. I would not spend my $$$ on a new Powerstroke

However I have no plans to ever buy a 2007 or newer diesel truck.
