Trade in the gasser and 23k for the new rig? After you've pulled the trailer with the diesel you will never look back and be soooooooooooo amazed! DEF is no big deal. Keep a 2.5 gallon bottle of it in the truck bed so you're always prepared. You add DEF about every 5000 miles empty, 1500-2000 miles towing. I figured it's likely we will ever get away from DEF now days so I just got over it and accepted it like we did with unleaded gas and catalytic converters in the mid-70's. Do it! You have the power to be amazed!
