In 2 years time I can no longer afford to buy a camper

I went from having enough cash to buy a brand new camper 2 years ago to being almost $20,000 short. I still have the cash, but the camper prices ran away. I guess I don't get to play anymore. Everybody got rich but me.
  • Now this is my idea of camping, In my next life when I'm loaded... LOL Just kidding around. Good luck, used is great in my humble opinion.

  • I'm looking at used campers. I've been looking since last fall. I've noticed prices starting to drop in the last month or so. I think gas prices and higher interest rates will be bringing prices down significantly.

I wouldn't say that, but alot of people sure got dumb over the last 2 years....sounds like you are not one of them the way you're playing your cards.

Besides, who on earth wants a good deal and thinks spring time is a good time for a deal on a camper? :S

Ummm, ok. Shoulda bought one 2 years ago? Not that anyone predicted the massive inflation at the onset of the Scamdemic, but no one would predict in general that the prices would go down either.

Good news is, if you wait another year, prices should be somewhere between back in line and tanked. (Although this fuel price thing is looking like, hopefully short lived and a much stronger economy behind it than the last time this happened with fuel prices.)
You were good with not having a camper the last 2 years....god knows why, since the best thing to do during the Rona was get the heck outta dodge! So what says you can't wait another year? Only increases your procrastination by 33%.

It's a good time to hold onto your cash. Me thinks your buying power will be greater before too long.
In the mean time if you don't want to have an asset that depreciates even faster than normal, buy a dumpy old used camper that is functional and get 'er dun!
  • I agree look for used. But, cast a wide net to see what is out there. You'll be surprised at how much prices vary and all of the models you didn't think about.

But, if you find one that you "like", don't wait to pull the trigger.
  • No worries, the ones that are a few years old have all the bugs worked out of them and probably some mods made. Jut because you didn't get rich doesn't mean you're outta the game, buy something that's in your budget, they're out there, just gotta look.

Our 2002 Lance was completely rebuilt with all new electronics and appliances, like a brand new camper at a fraction of the cost.
