I cook in mine all the time. Vent fans are wonderful tools. I see it as a non issue.
We cook in our trailer all the time, for anything we would cook at home. There is absolutely no problem with odor, actually less than at home because you can turn over the camper air volume so quickly.
I don't see why a truck camper would be any different than a small trailer. Use the vent fan, don't burn the food, and clean up THOROUGHLY afterwards.
I think cleaning up is where a lot of people have problems. Wash the dishes, wipe down the stove & cabinet thoroughly with soapy water.
Another important thing is to take out the trash, immediately after putting any food in it. This could pose a problem if you have to pack out your trash with no local disposal facilities. Otherwise, just take it to the campground disposal facility ASAP.
Open a window or 2, run the vent fan or roof vent, and you will completely turn over the air in the camper very quickly. That should get rid of any lingering smells not taken care of by the previous steps.
