Thanks for all the feedback guys, really appreciate it.
I dropped by an Infiniti dealer today and opened up the drivers side door to checkout the sticker. It states payload should not exceed 1410 lbs. I'll post a picture if I can figure it out shortly.
After looking at all the numbers I think this is what I've come up with (should we purchase the Infiniti). Tell me if these look correct.
Payload = 1410 lbs
- Me 150 lbs
-Wife 125 lbs
- Baby + seat 50 lbs
- Dog 80 lbs
- Misc 200 lbs (not sure what else we'd have in the car but I feel its a safe estimate for other items)
= 805 lbs.
I assume the 805 lbs would be what I have left for the tongue weight? Is that correct?
When I was at the dealer I asked about the tongue wait, the associate sent me an email with the details. He states the max trailer wait is 8500 lbs, with a tongue wait of 15% of the max trailer wait... so thats 1275 lbs. Does that make sense or am I missing something.
If you use 8500 lbs as the total towing capacity, and subtract the cargo weight of the trailer (maybe 2000 lbs). Does that mean I'd be good to go with a dry weight 6500 lb trailer?
Does anyone know if trailer lengths are always bumper to hitch or are they often just the body of the trailer? I just wanted to know if there was standard lingo throughout the industry.
Here are some additional technical specs on the QX80
