Building the new F150 was more than just a model changeover. Since going to an aluminum body, Ford was dealing with the new generation vehicle while designing, building and installing the presses, robots and machinery required to deal with aluminum. Painting techniques also had to be changed.
The Dearborn plant is now up and running. Sounds as if Kansas City is just coming online. Shortly, they'll be flooding the retail market with these great trucks and that means Sales Incentives to push sales.
I read last week of the real to weight capabilities and towing capabilities of these trucks. With the heaviest trailer towing package, the F150 is right there with the F250. The rest of the 1/2 ton trucks are not nearly as capable of towing and hauling as the F150.
