would like to get a trailer electric jack. have the 3 holes on a A frame and looking at a 3500lb jack. my trailer only weighs 3300lbs.my question is when installing do u just connect a red wire to the positive terminal of the battery and the black wire to the neg terminal and thats it? any other recommendations or thoughts? I see them on ebay for about 95.00 for one like this.electric jackthanks

It is usually 1 wire to positive on battery, and they usually ground through a mounting bolt.

Don't forget the fuse! I think most of the jacks come with a fuse holder on the positive, enough wire to bolt to the frame for negative and a set of instructions.If it was me, I'd spend a few shekels more and at least get one with a brand name on it. Some of the jack mfg's are real good about warranties and supplying parts if they break. That E Bay jack won't have anything like that.

Here is a 3,000 lb UltraFab from Mantelli RV which looks like the one you had. I had them do warrenty on mine and they were great.You may not need the service but if you do it is priceless. The cost is only $10 more.

Says its internally grounded in the directions. Grind off the powder coat at mounting point.Recommend a cover of some sort to keep water out of it. Enjoy!!

We all learn things every day ... For me, a trailer tongue jack is a must!
Get the strongest one you can that will fit in the hole in your tongue. They do a lotof work. You'll never wish you had gotten a weaker one!

I got the Barker VIP 3000. Wish I had gotten the VIP 3500, just because it was beefier. But my 3000 has served well so far, a year and 1/2 with a lot of lifts so far, including a 45 day cross country trip early this year.

I paid a little more for the Barker because it was American owned, designed, and manufactured.

Stabilizers go down at all 4 corners of your trailer to firm it up while parked unhitched. Equalizer bars are the things that are part of the hitch to equalize the weight of the trailer on your vehicle and in your model hitch help prevent sway.. You have to raise (retract) your stabilizers before jacking the trailer.
2 different things.

now i got it, guess u can tell its our first trailer. will write that down about the jacks, making a check list. thanks

This is one of those things you don't want to go the cheap route. I liked the suggestion about reading the reviews. See what others say about that $65 jack and if they are all good then that is the way to go.

On my current trailer I was trying to engage the weight distributing bars while parked on an incline that went side to side. Just as I got the hitch high enough to engage the bars I noticed that I had lifted the rear wheel of my truck off the ground a good 4 inches. Get one beefy enough to take the operator's mental abilities into consideration. I learned a lot that day.

You might measure your hole for mounting your jack. 2 different sizes.

After doing much searching a few months back , I too, ordered the one off of amazon listed in an above post - I could not be more pleased -Took just a few minutes to install and works perfectly so far. Heck, for the price you could by 2 of them for what you would pay for one elsewhere.
