DIY is easy for those with the skills, time, and health. Unfortunately I have none of these, thus why I would rather have it done right and in a timely manner.
Agree, I should have read my policy more closely - if I had seen it since I bought my RV I might have, although highly unlikely. I made other mistakes as well - insuring an RV on an auto policy, not dealing with an agent but rather a call center, etc. Hopefully you all are more diligent than I.
I guess you are missing one important part I am trying to tell you..
If you go to a HOME FLOORING STORE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO DO THE FLOORING FOR YOU. Yes, it WILL cost you some money out of your pocket.
But keep in mind that with the flooring you pay for SQUARE FOOTAGE of the vinyl material plus some sort of labor (some just lump material and labor into one price per square foot) but they WILL be able to do it for you and get it done right.
At the flooring store you can pick out a variety of styles and quality grades. At the RV dealer there is a good chance that they will find the lowest cost vinyl and install that..
Just ask if they can or will do RVs and if they won't then see if they can recommend an installer.
There IS NO NEED to have a RV dealer do the flooring part. The RV dealer most likely will "farm" out the vinyl flooring job to a third party anyway or if they don't they will attempt to have one of their "crew" install it and take a chance of kluging the job up..
"flooring" is a wear item, just like a home after many years of use you end up replacing it, no different in a RV other than working in a smaller space.
You will need to have the RV dealer make repairs to the other non related water damage.
My family has several carpet layers. They have redone my sisters gooseneck horse trailer/RV combo, my dads old camper, my aunts 35' travel trailer and others. Never did they have an inexperienced installer put flooring in at a dealership. Now if it's warranty or recommended by insurer, then have the dealer do it.
