Good luck with any of them.
I have Progressive and other than the price, have been pleased with what they offer.
They all play games, and they are all in it together. Went with Progressive for their "agreed value" benefit. Progressive wooed me with lower rates, etc. and did pretty well, initially. Since then, my auto rates have gone up 20 percent a year (2 years now) for no reason at all. No claims, no tickets, safe driver, excellent credit, blah blah. (at least the rise was offset by my TT rate going down)
Their explanation was twofold. One, there are a lot of bad drivers out there and everyone gets lumped into a giant pool so the cost is spread out. Translation: Good drivers are lumped in with all the bad drivers and paying more because of them.
Two, they told me they basically need the money. Yep. They had to pay a lot of claims, so I (and all the other good, responsible customers) get to help. That pool thing again. And there is nothing anyone can do about it, except change companies constantly.
And since insurance is REQUIRED, they can do whatever they want. If it was a choice, bet things would be different.
some things are a choice, i believe in most states liability insurance is what is required, not necessarily damage to your property. it's to protect others from your potential mistake. if you are generally mistake free, you generally have lower rates. i agree it sucks being lumped into a pool, and through higher premiums overall we all pay for each others mistakes in a way, but that's how insurance works really. how else would you get 50k in coverage only paying $500/yr?
edit: actually just seeing, in IL at least, trailers do not require liability insurance at all, since an accident would be covered by your vehicles liability insurance
