Cobalt...seems like that model has been in the news a lot lately. Isn't that the one where windows routinely fall out of the car, and a few doors have fallen off. Gee I can't see why the would get stuck with higher insurance...heh.
BK
No, the doors and windows do not fall off.
Just trying to live within my means. I wish the government would try that.
Well hats off to you for that! But you aren't towing with a Cobalt are you?

OR, in any fullsized truck, suv, van, etc.
My wife, I, and the family are the selfish bastard and admit it and simply love having the odds so solidly in our favor on anything and everything and won't change it an iota! Might note that some people must only go to Casinos or gamble to lose and don't give a damn how remote the odds of winning are! They have free "hot lines" for them to call for help. Haven't heard of a "hot line" for the pint sized vehicle owners and drivers yet but should be lots of them in the works.
People buying the tiny death trap coffin cars must have flunked Physics or had never taken the class at all!
Maybe these same uninformed really do think it's a 180 lb tackling lineman smacking the living heck out of the 300+ lb borderquack in football. Just might be that they really need glasses. What's even worse is that these same half blind uninformed get driver licenses and are on our roads and then want a pitty party for family members or others they'd just attended the funeral for.
What ever happened to getting a real education or was good successful partying the main requirement for a diploma??? - Fast_MoparExplorer

And the Insurance companies use this info to set their rates.
My more expensive 2011 F150 costs less to insure than my 2011 Cruze, all because of potential personal injury issues.
Yes, but weight is not the issue in this example. My cheap Cobalt costs more to insure than my 2013 Grand Caravan, and the insurance company said it is because most Cobalt drivers are very young and take a lot of chances on the road.
Seems odd. If there are no young drivers in your household, why should you be penalized?
In our case, it's just me and wife who drive them, and it was the Insurance agent who told me that the truck was considered safer than the Cruze. But sometimes I do wonder if he really knows what's what.

BK - wilber1ExplorerLet every vehicle on the road be a F350, we'll all be so much safer.

I am surprised that the Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry made the worst list.
Not rocket surgery to figure that one out...
They're two of the most common vehicles on the road, therefore involved in the most accidents.
My whole problem with this is, the F-350 is only safer because it's bigger than the vast majority of cars on the road.
What if everyone drove F-350's? Then the playing field would be level again, and fatalities would go way-way up.
Also, doesn't matter if you're in a Smart FourTwo or an F-350 dually; if a tractor trailer or a dump truck hits you, you're %$#@ed either way.
We lost some good friends last summer when their Suburban, a supposedly "safe" vehicle, got pancaked between two tractor trailers. - RollnhomeExplorerSame in football. When a defensive tackle hits the offensive quarterback who is going to be on the bottom? Two objects can not occupy the same space at the same time. The object with the most mass will typically win. This is not accounting for man made built in safety features and devices.

There was quite an argument going on about this on another thread, but as the title to this article shows: Physics rules:

F-350 is the safest vehicle on the road
Unpossible. The experts on the other thread said so.
Besides, if you're in an F350, you're evil and intentionally putting others at greater risk. You selfish bastards.
