I think you're starting to over-think things a bit. I'd suggest to replace all the fuses and see if your lights work. The "red lights" are probably indicator lights to show a circuit is not operating, usually from a fuse being blown. If the indicator light doesn't work it does not mean that something else is amiss. It may be a fault in the indicator circuit. This is where a hand held meter becomes invaluable, takes the guess work out of the problem.
You may have also lost power to part of the distribution panel. Do you see where the main power wires connect to the panel?
