Nice to have a small portable inverter(12v : 120v) on board for occasional need but wiring in a large capacity inverter is unnecessary for most camping requirements. Inverters are not efficient so why not just use a 12 volt appliances ??
Why buy a camper? A tent will let you sleep nice and dry. There is no reason to haul that much weight around, lowering your gas mileage and limiting the number of places you can camp.
Better yet, why not get a cargo van and just sleep in the back down by the river. No need to setup a tent.
