No one can tell YOU if you will be 'safe' with any vehicle that is loaded to it's limits be it a Yugo, half ton truck or a higher GVWR vehicle..
Sure, you can go with all the published weights for both the tow vehicle and any kind of trailer you want to buy, but the thing is you need to know what those numbers mean.. Or, you can just go with them and decide which ones you want to accept for yourself.
Once you are on the road with a huge thing attached to your butt and have never experienced it before, what do you do if it's not the same as going down the road to Walmart?
It's not hard to tow a trailer.. What's hard is what do you do if it's not following behind you as you expect??
I like towing my current combo. I've towed overloaded and hated it.. I've towed overloaded and didn't have any issues at all..
This is over the course of over 35 years of driving and towing for recreation and for 'work' from coast to coast going back to the early 1980's..
No one can say what's going to happen to them the next time they hit the road.. It's mostly out of our control.. But, we can usually rely on past experience to get us thru most days..
In the end, get what you want.. Tow it with what you got.. Decide from there if it works for you or not. You will know pretty quick if you can handle it or not. A lot depends on your initial setup of course, but you will then need to know what to do to correct that.. Dealers can get you out of the lot.. But, you will still need to fine tune the setup yourself..
Anyway, good luck and we all had to learn by experience along the way too.
