Is a dually too wide for a 7 ft camper?

Can anyone tell me if a dually is too wide for a 7 ft flatbed camper? This question may sound silly so I apologize beforehand for my ignorance.

This is a spinoff of another post discussing the lack of payload on a single rear wheel diesel 4x4 truck. A proposed solution was to use a dually instead of a single wheel.

We want to be able to load and unload the camper using jacks at home or in the field as a base camp.

A friend of mine tells me his dually tires (outer to outer distance) are 92 inches apart. To use jacks would mean extensions at least 7 inches long. Would I need a hoist to load/unload the camper off a dually?

Would someone please help me understand this?

  • Do you already have the truck and camper or are you anticipating ?

The maximum width of my dually is 8 feet, or 96 inches. I tow a utility trailer all the time. It's not near that wide, and I have no issues towing it. Just because I can't see it in my rear view mirrors doesn't mean I shouldn't tow it!

    I need to clarify

This is a 9x7 ft truck camper designed to be carried on a flatbed of the truck, not a trailer.
