Is it ok to drive with the bed mat and no tailgate?

I'm 77 yrs old..... experience tells me that "that if it's possible, it will happen sometime."

An object flying out of a pick-up going down the road could startle someone to swerve and hit another vehicle, or lose control and crash is a possibility......
My OPINION is you would have been responsible! Why take a chance?
Close the tail gate! Please?
And I believe the LAW would blame you.
