I am with the guys saying "why risk it for 1 minute of rolling up time?"
The leaves and paper cups in the bed are another story.
Air flow behind cabin actually push the stuff close behind the cabin into front corners, as picture indicate.
But put it 1/2 length of the bed with no tailgate and it will be gone in a second.
Life is always more complicated than theory. Even with tailgate the mat will not lift in million samples, but there comes a time when with right combination of side wind and road bump, the thing will lift and fly away. Why risk?
