Is it safe to use normal garden hose for water??

We drank hundreds of gallons of water from the garden hose growing up in Phoenix and my DW and I are still here today. That being said, we have a couple of white RV freshwater hoses that we use when camping. I have in the past used our garden hose to fill our freshwater tank if I didn't want to lug out our RV water hose but we have a dual canister filter system under our galley sink that effectively removes any hose aftertaste.
