Towing a travel trailer is very, very different than towing a cargo trailer. When cruising down the highway, aerodynamic drag has
far greater impact than weight on your ability to pull a trailer. You have to consider frontal area. See page 15 here:

That's only about 7' across by 4' tall, or in other words, a pop-up. Most travel trailers are at least double that.
I agree with the others: the Escape is nowhere near up to the task of pulling even a small travel trailer.
