I wouldn't tow much more then a pop up with your Excape. I have a V6 Explorer it tows the popup well, but I wouldn't want much more back there. Anything you could comfortably fulltime in will be to big to tow with your TV.
I have a friend who has an Explorer and was towing a '70's model travel trailer with it (those were a lot heavier than the new ones) and had no problem. Now he upgraded to a newer one (same size but just lighter) and thinks my Escape could tow it too. It seems to depend on who I ask, which doesn't help with my confusion! haha!
I have an Explorer pulling a trailer you'd likely be happy in. But my Explorer is rated to pull 7,000 lbs. and my trailer is 5,500 loaded up. I would NOT go more weight, no way.
Your Escape can pull a flat bed trailer, or Jet ski's, or a boat, etc. that weighs 3,500 lbs. But a 3,500 lb RV and a 3,500 lb. utility trailer are NOT the same thing.
