NOT Necessarily ....... I could have one IF I needed it or wanted it AND have owned and towed with all 3 flavor trucks and sizes .
My 84 F-350 Dually was great as a weldin' rig and towin' my camper from job to job even though after I latched the TT to her she was to the wall and over most of the time while towin' to a different job BUT made it just fine , never exploded nor did I ever lose control of it her and kill anyone or crash and burn .
AND as for livin' in tight quarters , I spent just as many years pipelinin' on Lay Barges in the Gulf of Mexico anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months at a time in a 4 man/bunk BR ( 2 bunk beds ) Welders get the bottom bunks , our helpers get the top . ...... SO I know a little about makin' the best of small livin' quarters .
