How is that possible?! EVERY website I have seen and every person I have seen online talking about their Escape says they only can tow up to 3500, so why is MINE 1000 more than everybody else's!? Is it just a typo maybe? If not, this is definately a gamechanger!! :-)
That stands for G(ross) V(ehicular) W(eight) R(ating). Translated it means that 4500 lbs. is the maximum that your vehicle can weigh. If you took it out to the scales and weighed it with nothing in it, and it weighed 2500 lbs.(for example), then you could put add no more than 2000 lbs.
