I purchased a tongue scale & weighed my tongue weight at 1200lbs, removing some useless. Items from the front & only storage area I got tongue weight down to 1125,
I would not have removed any weight from the tongue. Also, you have plenty of truck. Long trips are just short trips put together. Go for the long trips!
