My opinion if you, your wife, and your children love your camper and you are not having any quality issues I would not trade for a 5th wheel. I load very similar to your set up. Wife and my daughters love our floorplan and have no quality issues. These 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks (Rams, GMs, Ford) are very comfortable for long trips with long, heavy trailers.
My opinion is brush off any rust on hitch head, replace with larger washers between hitch head and shank and torque properly.
Add an anti sway bar. My WDH and anti sway bar are Pro Series brand (probably the least expensive out in the market).
