Someone said a spark plug change in a hemi called for every 50,000 miles is about $500 for the 16 plugs.
at 180,000 miles let's see, carry the nought that would be 3 changes for $1500 and 1/2 way to a fourth vs my Cummins which has needed a fan drive bearing around $250 I think it was. Oh and a top set for $150.
Yeah but the Cummins needs a valve lash adjustment at 20k and every 40k thereafter. That was $900 a pop at the dealership.:W
WOW! Don't tell my Cummins that! Never done one but thinking about pulling the covers and checking.
It's not difficult to do but you need a barring tool to turn the engine to TDC for the sets. Apex barring tool I was going to do mine but got a quote at Cummins and let them do it.
Those that have a DPF equipped diesel will need to replace their DPF at about 100K miles if they follow there maintenance schedule. Price one of these lately?
$975 for a Fleetguard on the interweb. Are you sure the service is not a cleaning vs throwing it away?
A DPF filter will not have to be replaced every 100k miles. If a DPF get's too clogged that the truck is going into constant regen with less than 100k miles, then there's something wrong with the engine/electronic controls. This was a major problem with the pre DEF Dodge/cummins trucks, but the DPF was the victim and not the root cause.
