I don't think this video clip spoke so much about the 6.4 engine but more about the testers. There were not even sure about the rear end ratio in the truck they were driving. I am a Cummins diesel guy but even I could see through some of the 'smoke' they were blowing about the 6.4 truck. And the snowplow stuff not working (on purpose) was just more foo foo verbosity that had no direct discussion on the truck's abilities. As well as thought I heard on the video that the cylinder deactivation was for PTO. It is also for driving down the road when the engine does not need the power of all eight cylinders. The Ram employee in the truck apparently did not made that correction to the conversation when asked about it.
Cylinder deactivation only works in PTO mode when you have the chassis cab tune. This was one of the reasons I stayed with diesel instead of going back to gasoline. The mileage on the chassis cab is worse than the pickups and all the engines are detuned for longer duty cycles at full output. The 2015 Cummins chassis cab tune has the same horsepower as my 2005 Powerstroke pickup tune.
