Frankly when...not if the air suspension fails it sounds like a nightmare to fix, especially after the truck is a few years old. Or...am I crazy?
I have full air ride on my big HDT, and the main annoyance is air leaks, but that's just something you live with until it grows to where the compressor can't keep up. And with most systems the truck isn't undrivebale, it just may ride rough. Air leaks are not easy to find, but I imagine my system is a lot more complicated.
One final caveat, my truck also had an air-ride cab and seats, which add to ride comfort, but, I'm also a lot heavier. I'm not sure how the LDT trucks ride with just air suspension. I kinda doubt the engineers would be putting that in if it didn't result in some improvement. I don't buy any theories they're doing it just to gouge the customer.
Nothing beats a test drive, however. I'd do that.
