I'll give another example of gearing changes. 08 and 2010 F150's. Both 3.73. 7300lb TT. 08 was a 4sp, 2010 was the 6sp. Both required 3500 rpms to climb one particular hill I travel a lot. 08 was in 3rd and the 10 was in 4th. Seat of the pants feel said the 10 with the 6sp was faster since it had a lower 1st gear it felt quicker. But in reality both had the same 5.4 motor and it was still the same power pulling the TT. The 10 6sp just shifted a lot more where as the 08 just ran in 3rd at a continuously higher rpm.
