Is the diesel going to end up going the way of the dinosaur?

With all the cheating going on for emissions and what not, I could see diesels only being allowed for commercial, farming, and certain recreational uses. And for any of those applications, it would require all sorts of special permits and fees. In other words, more money from the end user. Just another way to keep the government's hands in other people's pockets.
