Is this fair value / size of truck needed

A man has a 2000 (year) Northwoods Arctic Fox 990 in what appears to be fantastic condition. Supposedly the first owner didn't use it much, this man bought it and hasn't used it, so, he is selling because he doesn't see any time to use it. Asking $12k. Has 9'10" floor. Alum frame and fiberglass exterior. I am told... All the base options and nearly all the extra options. Onan propane generator that only has 20 hrs on it, 80w solar panel, media center, new 19" color lcd Tv, rear door awning, side awning, dining area slide out, upgraded windows, privacy curtains, electric jacks, single jack or multiple jack operation, large capacity dual lp tanks, large capacity fresh, gray and black water tanks, private wet bath w/ cabinets, outdoor shower, outside plug ins. No leaks, 22" oven/3 burner w/ cover, upgraded truck tie downs. 2 new deep cycle marine batteries, microwave, 3 way refrigerator, very well insulated, upgraded cabinets. Worth it or not?

I don't have a truck big enough. I have read "buy the TC, then the truck," so that is my goal. I assume I would need a 1-ton. Is SRW enough? Or would a 3/4 ton do?
  • Wood frame and not a screaming deal even if it's in perfect condition.

Keep shopping.. you have the power of the internet at your finger tips.
  • A 2000 Arctic Fox 990 truck camper DOES NOT have an aluminum frame, it has a wood frame.. Aluminum frame construction started in the mid 2005 models and will have "Silver Fox Edition/Aluminum SuperStructure" badging on the back and sidewalks.

The asking price seems high for a 17 year old camper, especially since you've received some erroneous information from the seller. Any additional questions you may have should be directed to this forum and I'm sure you'll get correct info from the AF owners here.
  • Sounds like nice camper. Any pictures?
To answer your question will take to have wet weight of the camper and its COG, meaning you will not get straight answer till you measure that (after you load all the beer and whatever DW wants).
Per my experience camper with slide and singles will not work, but I was wrong before.
