Is this possible with a hitch extension?

Can I pull a large travel trailer behind a truck camper using a hitch extension, providing my truck is otherwise equipted to handle the load? By large I mean in the 34 ft range approaching 10k.

  • Does the extension bar always extend straight out from the receiver or in some cases drop down and further out to accommodate the camper overhang?
  • Sure. Get a Superhitch and a SuperTruss. My 48" SuperTruss is rated for up to 12,000 pounds with a WDH.

Here is shot of one of Mello Mike's TC friends in Ariz with his long extension hitch. They are only pulling a small utility trailer but this is how they got the hitch back to the trailer under the overhang of the mounted TC...

You have to know the tongue weight of the travel trailer. You will be in the superhitch and supertruss extension world, so as the extension gets longer to clear the TC the less load capacity you have at the ball even using a weight distribution hitch.
