You all ought to try driving farm equipment on local roads sometime. I do every year as some of the fields I farm are a ways from the house / farm where we live. Farm equipment always has the right of way on any road except a limited access highway and sometimes (if it's necessary to traverse one, there too.
My tractors have a top speed of 22 mph at rated rpm in high gear, high range (22 forward and 16 reverse) I run SMV tiangles, red high mount flashers facing forwaed and amber facing rear plus a rotating beacon on top and every year without fail, some idiot that is in a big hurry to go nowhere cannot wait for me to get to an intersection to pull off the highway to let cars pass (some of my towed implements are 13 feet wide.
Last summer I had a clown try to pass me on a 2 lane secondary road with a ditch on both sides. he didn't make it. The ditch grabbed him. I saw him go in the ditch, stopped the tractor, opened the door and looked back at him standing in water up to his knees. Got back in the tractor and went about my farming business. I'm waiting for some idiot to rear end me. They will loose. My tractors weight 10-15,000 pounds and most implements weigh over 8,000 pounds. A car is no match for heavy steel
On the subject of driving the speed limit on any road... I always do. I've found that leaving a bit earlier than planned and driving sensibly, you always get to your destination on time and.... I let those 'hurry up people pass all they want to. I've found that driving the speed limit usually puts you in an open space between clumps of 'hurry up' drivers. In fact, I usually drive slightly under the speed limit and I set my GPS to remind me to do that.
Life is too short to hurry anyway.
