Sorry that you were in a wreck, but also think about what you "possibly" did to contribute. If both the car behind you and a few cars back were trying to risky maneuvers to get around you, you might want to rethink how you are driving.
I know I'm going to get it for this one, but as someone who's been stuck behind a "speed limit" driver who's being "safe", I feel I have to point out what's obvious. If you are truly not in a hurry, also try pulling over from time to time to let others pass safely.
I thought a bit of the same thing, but decided not to post because I knew what the response would be.
Let me reiterate, that I am sorry the accident happened, and happy that the OP was not physically hurt.
That said, I'll defend the other side here a bit. First, there are areas where the speed limit is artificially low, and was basically mandated by the Feds. People familiar with the road know that it is safe to drive at a faster clip, and law enforcement does as well, and gives a "fudge factor" - say 5 - 10 MPH over the posted speed limit before they enforce it.
2nd, and I am not saying this happened with the OP, but I have seen it happen first hand on many occasions. Just because you are going the speed limit on a flat, straight-away, does NOT mean you have not been impeding traffic. Often times with RVs, they speed up to the speed limit on that stretch of highway, only to slow down significantly when the road starts to wind, or when there are hills, backing up the traffic behind them. That type of winding hilly terrain is frequent in the mountains of Colorado.
If that is what was happening, it is very understandable for following cars to want to pass when they can - which may be when the RV happens to pick up their pace and go the posted speed limit.
Again, sorry to the OP. And not stating that either of the above was the case in his circumstance, but I do think it is important for all RV drivers to think about the entirety of their trip, not just that they are "going the speed limit" at a certain time.
Now, flame away.
