It's been fun, but going to the "dark side"

With the failing health of both our moms, we have had to re-think our RVing needs and use. We are trimming down the Scout herd to 1 and will be selling Red and the S&S, hopefully as a set, but we will separate if we need to.

We will be keeping the Alpenlite and buying a mid to late 90's non electronic 3/4 ton diesel truck to pull it. With a GVWR of 10K and a max pin weight of 2K a 1 ton dually is a little over kill and I'd like to get the better mpg when unhooked.

Next weekend will be the last outing of the pair, then they will go up for sale. Will still be throwing my .02 cents from time to time, and may go TC again in the future. But after the Moms pass we will be traveling back and forth between the kids houses and living full-time in the RV........and the T is just to small for our needs.
  • Been there- Done that (Small Lance, Big Lance, Class C, Winnebago Allsteeer Class A, Small Lance! Use the small Lance more.
  • Slight change of plans...................after some investigation and planning...........

We figure is will take us 6 months to a year to redo the 5er to be how we want it and have decided to sell off some of the vehicles to fund the build. Keeping the S&S as our RV during the build.
  • Chuck, Hate to see you leave the TC forum, I also loved following your Rebuild of your Camper. Best of luck to you.

  • Best of luck Chuck! I too remember the time when my TC (and RV!) life came to a screeching halt due to taking care of my mom for a number of years. After she passed in 2011 I started back up again after a time, and I'm sure you will continue to also as your circumstances change. Whether or not you have a TC isn't the issue. It's that you enjoy your life and spend the time with those that you love as much as possible while they are still here.

    :)

  • The circumstances under which you leave the TC in very unfortunate. Hopefully, most of us will be here when you return with you new to you TC.

  • It was so fun to follow your S&S rebuild.
You'll have a lot of good times ahead of you no matter what RV type you get.
    Best wishes to y'all
