Jack for trailer to change tires?

Is it normal for the trailer to not come with a jack or any way to get the tires off?

  • "Camco Trailer Aide " from Camping World is what I use instead of any type of bottle jacks. Just drive the good tire up on this ramp after you just loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire, remove tire, replace with spare. Drive off the Trailer Aide. Job done! No jacks ! Actually I personally went out of the tire changing business:) and just bought the Good Sam Emergency Road Side Service plan. So if my tire goes bad, I just use my finger on my cell phone and have Good Sam send out a service truck from the area and let them change it:):). Would not RV with the ERSS plan. Especially if the truck and trailer need to towed to a repair shop for mechanical problems.
  • Get a 1.5 ton scissors jack. A bottle jack may not get low enough when a tire is flat and I don't like how tippy they are.

On the road I prefer using an Andersen Rapid Jack or something similar instead of a bottle jack under an axle. Sometimes you can't get off the highway very far and large trucks going by are liable to blow your TT right off the bottle jack.

A 1-T scissor jack may work to lift one wheel on that size trailer. It is always best to practice changing a tire at home to see what works. Your truck jack may work too, check it out.

  • Pick up a 12 ton bottle jack for $30. Anything the dealer would provide would be junk anyways.
