Jayco Eagle Vs Winnebago

Hello everyone,

I know these "which one is better?" questions are annoying....but hearing input by those that already own them really is valuable when trying to make a $25K decision.

Anyway, it looks like after all I have read here and other places, the top 2 contenders for a new 30+ ft bunkhouse w/exterior bathroom door is the Jayco Eagle 314bhds and the Winnebago 31bhds. It looks like the price is just about the same for a 2013 left over.

I like Jayco's 2 year warranty, however like my wife said, unless it is a big issue, I would probably fix stuff myself anyway.

Camper will be used up and down the east coast for 10 years and I tow it with a f350 diesel.

So what do you think? Does it just come down to which one I can get the better deal on? Should I be considering another manufacturer?

thanks in advance!!

  • To help you decide on what RV to buy you could go to www.rvknowhow.com and read Joe and Vicki’s suggestions and/or download their e-book `RV Buyers Homework’, which walks you through the process of choosing the best RV for your needs, selecting the right floor plans and features, determining the RV’s cargo-carrying and towing capacities and evaluating its livability. RVtravel.com and the Better Business Bureau have a DVD that covers the same subject

Jayco has been building trailers for years. They have the process all figured out. Good dealer network, excellent warranty. It would be an easy decision for me.

I thought Winnebago bought out a previous trailer manufacturer so that would be a wash IMHO. I would have to guess that they made some improvements in QC etc.

  • Can't speak to a Winnebago as I've never owned one.

We're going into our 5th year owning our Jayco Eagle and it's been a great camper. We've had no issues with it and it's a nice looking unit.
  • I have a 2015 Jayco 314 BHDS and the fit and finish is great. I have had two Jaycos prior to this one and the two year warranty is nice if you need it. We had nothing major with our other two Jaycos and with this new one it's too soon to tell. I haven't been inside a Winnebago just seen them online. For me it would be the Jayco.
