Jayco Hybrid 23B (X23B) and Weight

We are planning to purchase our first TT. First on our list is the Jayco 23B because of the floor plan and light weight. However, the GVWR for the TT is 4950 lb, which leaves only 700-800 lb of cargo weight. By the time you add some water, propane, clothes, camping gear, etc., it seems very likely that the GVWR would be exceeded.

This is a popular model, so surely this has been considered before. How do you handle that? Just pack light and leave the extra stuff at home? There are some camping trips where we might like to carry bicycles, a telescope, some outdoor furniture, and who knows what else!

Thanks for your thoughts.
  • Leaving the extra stuff at home isn't fun. This is an UNreasonable low cargo weight. You will not be happy. Jayco website clearly says 725 pounds of cargo.
  • Yeah, we have been saying for a decade how horrible the CCC is on the 23B. Carbon fibre campers only. Rip out the clothes wards since you will not be able to pack them. Climb over U-dinette to front bed bwahahhaha, Slam the rear of the camper on a sloped driveway or gas station. Popular? Only to koolaid crowd.
